I love Jesus Christ, my husband and family, all little children, mountain views, rainy afternoons, and laughter. That's what you need to know about me - if you want to know more...
I was one of seven children born to a dairy farmer and his wife - we were raised on gospel hymns, southern hospitality, and fried okra.
Stories have always been a part of my life - books held wondrous adventures that were almost as wild and crazy as the stories my dad would tell. It wasn't long before I picked up a pen and began weaving my own stories.
My first love of writing was poetry. A typical teenage girl, I recounted crushes, daydreams, and unrequited love with a rhyme and rhythm that mimicked every held breath and every heartache. Several poems were published during those years, and appear in the Treasured Poems of America, Where Dreams Begin, and American Poetry Annual anthologies.
But life happened and through a series of decisions, I stopped pursuing my love of writing for many years. Then I fell in love with the storytelling power of photography. My photography reflects the majesty and mystery of nature, reminding us of the beauty of God’s creation.
Now, I am the award-winning author of Daddy, Are You a Duck? - my debut children's book, written in honor of my dad. Outdoor adventures and cuddle-time moments with my grandchildren have inspired many other heartwarming children's stories still awaiting publication.
Combining my love of God, His Word and His creation with my love of poetry, prose and photography, I also write devotions for children of all ages.
A little girl goes on an adventure to discover why everybody calls her daddy "Duck". The simple question, Daddy, are you a duck?, guides her through a series of amusing comparisons between her daddy and his name.
